Premarital Counseling

Premarital counseling helps couples take the next step in their relationship, resolve issues in their relationship before they commit to marriage, or set relationship goals. Instead of waiting until there is a problem, couples engage in premarital coaching to get ahead of any issues and discuss topics that may have friction or differences.

Premarital counseling is a time to talk about sensitive topics with a neutral third party, to carve out dedicated time to discuss any fears and uncertainties about your future together, and improve the communication between you and your partner. From conflict resolution to setting realistic expectations for married life, a premarital coach helps couples build and maintain a healthy relationship. There will be many laughs, patches of stress and full hearts as you look towards committing your life with that special someone. Premarital counseling helps couples understand their hopes, fears, and expectations around a healthy marriage, allowing them to make an informed decision about the future of their relationship. This is a process that will be another step on your journey to prepare you for the years of marriage to come and lay a strong foundation together.

What happens during our premarital sessions?

The primary focus of going to premarital coaching is to help couples get on the same page about certain topics and to better understand themselves, each other, and their partnership. Therefore, one of the first exercises of premarital coaching is for each partner to answer a written questionnaire, or series of questions, about expectations and their relationship. Your answers can help pinpoint strengths, uncover potential problems, and identify personality traits that will be useful for your coach to facilitate a productive conversation to help your relationship flourish now and into the future of your marriage. You will interpret your answers together and discuss any commonalities or differences in your responses. This exercise will serve to set appropriate goals based on what challenges you wish to overcome with your future spouse and create more talking points for your relationship. We also go over a variety of personality assessments and how our differences can be challenging, beneficial and how to love your future spouse well.
